RIWFP Tax the Rich Lobby Days
Join Our 'Tax the Rich!' Lobby Days
Time to take action at the State House! With federal cuts threatening Rhode Island's essential services, your voice is needed now more than ever. Join Working Families Power every Tuesday at 3:15pm at the RI State House to directly lobby legislators on tax fairness.
While working Rhode Islanders struggle with rising costs and pay our fair share to support schools, transit, and healthcare, the wealthiest residents contribute proportionally less. Our weekly lobby days give you the opportunity to tell lawmakers face-to-face: it's time for the rich to pay their fair share too!
No lobbying experience needed—we'll provide training, talking points, and support. Together, we can protect vital services and create a more equitable tax system for all Rhode Islanders!

From sea to shining sea, we’ll reflect the absurdity of the MAGA regime, kick out the clowns, and end the greatest shitshow on earth.

NO KINGS! Protest Rally
About this event
In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies.
🚨On Saturday, June 14, we’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind.🚨 For more information, CLICK HERE!

50501 Protest

Rhody Civics Club Social Speakers Series
About this event
Join us for a social speaker series dedicated to learning about Rhode Island government in a friendly, casual environment. Come meet other civic-curious people, and walk away with a tool box of direct actions you can take to make meaningful change in your local community. And maybe make some new friends!
This event will focus specifically on state, city and town budgets. Expert speakers will present an overview of how a budget is drafted, approved and implemented. They will also discuss specific actions non-elected citizens can take to participate in the process and influence the money that flows back into their communities. Future monthly Rhody Civics Club events will focus on topics such as an overview of the state legislature, how a bill becomes law, housing justice, and how to run an election, among others.
Small bites will be provided, as well as a full self-pay bar. This event is open to under 21, and the bar will be checking ID. Spend some time chatting with other attendees and building new connections, before transitioning to listening to the expert speakers. There will be a Q&A session at the end.
All are welcome! Anyone interested in getting more involved in our government is invited. Together we can make democracy what it was always supposed to be: of the people, by the people, for the people.
This event is sponsored by the Rhode Island Working Families Party. For more info CLICK HERE.

RALLY - RI Working Families Party
One of RI Working Families Power's highest priority bills, Revenue for Rhode Island (House Bill 5473, sponsored by Rep. Karen Alzate) is being heard this coming Tuesday, May 6 in the House Finance Committee.
This particular bill would raise taxes for the top 1% of RI's income-earners, with a 3% surtax on taxable income above $625,000. It is a crucial part of a legislative package that would help rebalance Rhode Island’s upside-down tax system that currently has those earning the least paying a higher proportion of their taxes than the wealthiest Rhode Islanders.
A fairer tax system guarantees that the richest 1% will pay their fair share to fund our public schools, colleges, roads, bridges, and public transit. By passing these reforms, we can create a new revenue stream of over $190 million annually that will ensure our state’s most important programs will be funded, despite Trump and Musk’s cuts.
Join RIWFP and dozens of coalition organizations at the State House, where members of our community will testify in support of Rep. Alzate's bill. Let's pack the audience and show the committee and our opponents that the time to act is now—the rich must pay their fair share to keep our state running.
Wear green and come when you're able—many of us will be there all evening! If no street parking is available, you can park at the mall for 2 hours for free.

SOS! Save Our Security Rally
We are there to show support for SOCIAL SECURITY, and their staff. We object to the dismantling of the SSA by DOGE. We oppose Bisignano's nomination as Commissioner of SSA.
Please stay on the sidewalks, the plaza is private. We will bring extra signs.

May Day National Day of Action - RIWFP
This is a solidarity event with SEIU 1199NE care workers in Rhode Island, who are holding a major day of action on May 3 at the RI State House.
Where some states are holding events on May 1st, Rhode Island is instead "postponing" our May Day to May 3rd, when care workers are gathering for a major rally to express 'no confidence' in Rhode Island's proposed state budget, which will be truly disastrous for every single Rhode Islander.
RI Working Families Party is looking to confirm 1199 attendees for the rally. Can you join us?
Across the country—from fruit fields in California to classrooms in Chicago, from kitchens in Queens to loading docks in Atlanta—working people are rising up. We are demanding a country that puts our families over their fortunes—public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, housing over homelessness.
Musk, Trump and their fellow profiteers are trying to create a race to the bottom—on wages, on benefits, on dignity itself. They want to erase labor rights, break our unions, and silence immigrant voices.
May Day 2025 we are standing united. We're organizing for a world where every family has housing, healthcare, fair wages, union protection, and safety—regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status.
They’re defunding our schools, privatizing public services, attacking unions, and targeting immigrant families with fear and violence. This is a war on working people—and we will not stand down. Using the principles of nonviolence and peaceful protest, we will stand together and stand strong.
This May Day, we will turn the page. This is the beginning of a new era—one where working families lead, immigrants are protected, and no one is left behind. This is not charity. This is not a request. We are reclaiming our power from corporate elites, and we will not be intimidated by Trump, Musk, or their billionaire backers. They’ve ruled for too long. Their time is up.
STOP THE BILLIONAIRE TAKEOVER. WE ARE THE MANY. THEY ARE THE FEW. THIS IS MAY DAY. JOIN US.
